2017 Assessing Cross-Collaboration

Nashville, Tennessee held on December 11-13, 2017

Thirty leaders in urban Extension from 22 states gathered in Nashville, Tennessee on December 11-13, 2017 for the NUEL meeting.  The National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) are dedicated Extension professionals whose purpose is advocating and advancing the strategic importance and long term value of urban Extension activities.  Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee hosted the meeting and provided the resources to make the meeting a great success.  This was the ninth face-to-face meeting of NUEL.

2017 Engaging in Collective Purpose

Bloomington, Minnesota held on May 8-11, 2017

The goal of our meeting was to: (1) planning for the National Urban Extension Conference to be held  in 2019 and (2) reporting to ECOP on the Rapid Response Team for Civil Discourse. Through NUEL, ECOP anticipates that other opportunities will arise to showcase urban Extension work through regional forums or topical meetings/conferences.

2016 Extending Our Regional Presenence

Denver, Colorado held on December 5-8, 2016

In an effort to reinvigorate a national discussion and move toward a more sustainable and integrated approach to urban Extension, a network of Extension professionals working in metropolitan areas across the country began meeting in late 2013. This group is called the National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) with an acknowledged purpose to advocate and advance the strategic importance and long term value of urban extension activities by being relevant locally, responsive statewide, and recognized nationally.  NUEL met in Denver, Colorado on December 5-8, 2016.

2016 Moving from Planning to Doing

Columbus, Ohio held on May 23-26, 2016

The Extension Committee on Organization and Policy (ECOP) now focuses on urban Extension as a top priority. Bi-annual events are held in the Downtown, Short North, Arena District, University, and surrounding areas of Columbus, OH. The theme for the meeting is Moving From Planning to Doing.

2015 WCMER Policy Workshop and NUEL Meeting

Sacramento, California held on December 1-4, 2015

The goal of our meeting included: (1) Review and adopt Operating Procedures. Devise action plan to implement; (2) Discussion of NUEL Report “A National Framework for Urban Extension”; (3) Review Marketing and Communications activities; (4) Receive Action Goal committee reports; (5) Devise process for organizing 2018 National Urban Extension Conference; and (6) Discuss manner in which we recruit/attract persons to NUEL.

2015 National Urban Extension Conference

Atlanta, Gerogia held on May 4, 2015

During the 2015 National Urban Extension Conference, NUEL meet on May 4, 2015 to discuss updates from the Texas Action Items Report, the role of NUEL in the 2017 conference, lierature reviews conducted on urban Extension, and the Networking event held to invite participating attendees of the National Urban Extension Conference to join NUEL's network.

2014 San Antonio National Urban Extension Leaders

San Antonio, Texas held on December 9, 2014

The National Urban Extension Leaders (NUEL) are dedicated Extension professionals that are excited about advocating and advancing the strategic importance and long term value of urban extension activities.  Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service hosted the meeting and provided the resources to make the meeting a great success.  This was the third meeting of NUEL.  

2014 Growing the National Urban Extension Network

St. Petersburg, Flordia held on June 24, 2014

Leaders in urban extension from 15 states gathered in St. Pete, Florida on June 22-24, 2014 for a three day meeting of the National Urban Leaders Network.  The Network consists of dedicated Cooperative Extension Professionals that are excited about advocating and advancing the strategic importance and long term value of urban extension activities.

2013 Fourteen States in Urban Extension

Pittsburg, Pennsylvania held on December 2, 2013

Leaders in urban extension from 14 states gathered in Pittsburgh on December 2, 2013 for a three day meeting to discuss opportunities for urban extension and to formalize a network of urban extension leaders.  The first step in this process was to identify a purpose of the group: "The purpose of the National Urban Leaders Network is to advocate and advance the strategic importance and long term value of urban extension activities."
